A project that originated in the 1970s, Heritage Hills Golf Club was built using funds from the Farmer’s Home Administration. As a subdivision of what is today known as Rogers State University it was the first to be built using this type of funding. The college was known as Claremore Junior College at that time. In 1996, Heritage Hills Golf Club broke ties with the college and the Rogers Country Public Facilities was formed. Today it is a public trust that has board members. The Commissioners of Rogers County appoint the members.

Heritage Hills Golf Club is a non-profit organization; they do not receive funds from government agencies and are totally self-sufficient. Any donations to the club are tax-deductible. They officially opened on July 1, 1977 and the design is that of Donald Sechrest of Tulsa. A diverse area of flat and hilly countryside, the golf course has 4 grass bunkers and 35 sand bunkers. 15 of the 18 holes have water hazards. It is a challenging course that requires players to be on their toes. The tees and fairways contain Bermuda grass and the greens have a Penncross Bentgrass.

The Heritage Hills Golf Club has a 3,000 square foot golf shop and it includes many popular brands such as Oakley, Sun Mountain, Ogio, Taylor Made, Nike, Bridgestone and Titlest. In addition, special orders are possible if you cannot find what you are looking for. There are pull and electric carts available for rental and the courses contain restrooms. A traveling beverage car is another amenity of the golf course. A practice green, driving range and short game practice facility are also available at the Heritage Hills Golf Club.

The golf shop is typically open from 7 a.m. to dark on a daily basis unless the winter weather is extremely bad and the golf course is closed due to the weather. Call to check the hours during bad weather to see if the shop is open. The golf course is open from 7:30 to sunset and the driving range opens from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is a Twilight rate that begins at 1:00 p.m. on weekdays and 2:00 p.m. on weekends. The Sunset rate begins at 5:00 p.m. daily.
